Late Goal Sinks Colts

Oshawa | by Ken Hashizume

Cole Cassels scores the only goal of game for Oshawa.

A ton of shots by the Colts and the Generals but only one made it to the back of the net.

Cole Cassels deflected a pass from Michael McCarron in front of the net with 2:24 remaining in the third period.

That would be enough as the Eastern Conference leading Generals shutout the Barrie Colts by a score of 1-0 on Sunday.

The game saw plenty of chances as the two teams combined for 68 shots.

Oshawa’s Kenny Appleby turned away all 33 shots he faced while Daniel Gibl made 34 saves for Barrie.

Both teams each went 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Colts will host the top team in the OHL’s Western Conference on Thursday when they host the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Barrie Molson Centre.
