The Canadian Hockey League has announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect Mitch Marner of the London Knights is the CHL Player of the Week with seven goals and two assists for nine points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-7 for the week ending November 2.
Marner recorded three straight three-point games to help extend the Knights’ winning-streak to six games highlighted by a pair of hat-trick performances last week. He netted his first career hat-trick on Saturday night as first of a 4-3 road win over the Windsor Spitfires, then earned first star honours again with another three goals on Sunday in a 7-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves. His week also included a goal and two assists in an 8-5 home win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday.
Marner, a 17-year-old from Thornhill, ON, is playing in his second career OHL season with the Knights. A top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft, Marner is currently seventh in OHL scoring with 22 points in 16 games and will represent Team OHL in the SUBWAY Super Series on November 17 in Kingston.
Also considered for the award this week was Arizona Coyotes prospect Laurent Dauphin of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens who recorded six points in two games tallying three goals and three assists, while Winnipeg Jets prospect Josh Morrissey also scored three goals and three assists for six points but in four contests for the Prince Albert Raiders.
