Owen Sound Attack veteran Alex Annecchiarico has left the team after requesting a trade.
Annecchiarico is in his third year with the team, and has played both forward and defence for the club.
The departure and trade request come after a weekend in which an untimely Annecchiarico penalty on Friday night allowed the Sudbury Wolves to score on a power play.
However, the Attack say the penalties and the subsequent decrease in ice time aren't factors in Annecchiarico's decision, which is fueled primarily by a desire for more ice time.
Meanwhile on another front, the Attack are believed to be close to making a transaction,
While no one will say anything officially, the belief is the deal will involve one of Owen Sound's 3 goalkeepers.
Jack Flinn has seen the majority of time in goal this season, while overage Brandon Hope has been relegated to a back-up role
Rookie Michael McNiven has appeared in just one game.
The perception is that with Flinn seeing the most crease time and McNiven just 17 years of age, Hope would be the odd-netminder out
Attack General Manager Dale DeGray refuses to discus the situation or the position that the trade talks surround, other than to say the team has been contacted by several teams, thought to primarily be from the Eastern Conference, regarding a deal
