Rain Doesn't Stop Hanover Races

Hanover | by Fred Wallace

Lightning and heavy rain failed to stop racing in Hanover Saturday night.

Hanover Raceway had to dodge the lightning bolts but managed to get all 10 races in without incident on Saturday night.

On the track, Lorne House didn't mind the sloppy conditions winning 3 times including both ends of the late daily double.

House started off his winning ways with Sharon the Moment in race 4.

The 11 year old gelding is owned by Susan Downey of St George and finished the mile in 1:58.3.

House was back in the winners circle in the middle of a thunderstorm in Race 9 winning with Two Doors Down for Don Beatson of Granton, and Ralph and Sandra Pitt of Cargill in 2:01.4.

He also won the nightcap with Excellence in 2:01 flat on the sloppy surface for Susan Downey of St George.

Hanover Raceway wraps up its 2014 season next Saturday night.

Hanover will hand out its season ending awards including the A B Fleishauer Horse of the Year, Driver and Trainer of the year awards.

Post time next Saturday is 7:15 PM.
