Terriers Get First Win of Season

Orillia | by Ken Hashizume

Tucci gets a goal and two assists but lose forward Richardson to gruesome injury.

The Jim Wilson Orillia Terriers score their first win of the Junior C Hockey season.

The Terriers got 2 goals one minute apart early in the third period.

That broke a 2-2 tie and gave them a 5-2 victory over the Huntsville Otters on Saturday to split the home-and-home series this weekend.

But the win came at a price as forward Josh Richardson suffered what appeared to be a lower body injury midway through the 3rd and had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher.

Huntsville opened up with a 2-0 lead in the second before Orillia tied it up before the end of the period.

Ryan Tucci led the way with a goal and 2 assists.

Andrew Denne, Denny Benson, Jacob Beard, and Matthew White also scored for the Terriers (1-2-0-0).

Jake McIntyre and Josh Zantingh replied for the Otters (2-2-0-0).

Gordie Weiss made 40 saves for the Terriers while Hunter Ferguson turned away 45 shots for the Otters.

Orillia went 2-for-5 with the man advantage while Huntsville managed one goal in 13 power play opportunities.

The next game for the Terriers is next Friday night in Alliston against the Hornets.
