The Goderich Flyers are now 0-and-3 on the Western Junior C Hockey League season after a 9-0 loss to the Wingham Ironmen.
Ryan McNeil led the defending champion Ironmen with two goals at the Maitland Recreation Centre on Saturday.
Holden Lansink, Jordan Skerrett, Adam Armstrong, Cody Lang, Jordie Schneider, Bailey Poels and Greg Scott also scored.
Starting goaltender Ben Nelson and backup Mike Ratchford shared the shutout, in which Wingham outshot the Flyers 33-26.
Goderich head coach Dave Errington tells Bayshore Broadcasting Sports a slow first period cost the Flyers for the second home game in a row.
Errington characterizes Goderich's play as "snakebit", where they're putting pucks on the net with nothing to show for the effort.
He believes it was a game where lucky breaks won out over skill for both teams, and the Ironmen got most of the breaks.
The Flyers were missing five players due to injury, including veteran Brandon Priestap.
Errington says he'll be working on special teams play in the Flyers' next practice -- Wingham scored three power play goals and a short-handed marker.
The Flyers travel to Mitchell on Wednesday, and then to Walkerton on Friday before returning to face the Kincardine Bulldogs at MRC next Saturday.
In Saturday night's other Western Junior C game, Trevor Hughson scored four goals for the Mount Forest Patriots as they defeated the visiting Mitchell Hawks 7-2.
Hughson scored his first goal at the 10-second mark of the first period.
