Baycats Continue to Win

Midhurst | by Ken Hashizume

4 Barrie players each with a pair of hits in a weather-shortened win over Brantford.

The Barrie Baycats may have clinched first place in the Intercounty League standings.

But they showed no signs of slowing down after a weather-shortened 6-0 win against  the Brantford Red Sox Tuesday night.

Four Baycats players (Kyle DeGrace, Jeff Cowan, Jeremy Walker, and Jonathan Fernandez) each had two hits.

DeGrace and Fernandez also drove in 2 runs each for the Baycats (27-5).

Up 1-0, Barrie broke the game open with 3 runs in the 4th inning and 2 more in the 5th.

The game was called after 5 innings due to lightning and later a power outage in the area.

Brad Bissell was the beneficiary of the Barrie offense going 5 innings giving up 3 hits while striking out 4.

Jeff Hunt went 2-for-3 for the Red Sox (17-17).

The Baycats welcome the Toronto Maple Leafs to Schmidt and Shaw Stadium Thursday night.
