Lacing Up the Skates for Health

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

MP Ben Lobb and NHL stars will play in charity game to raise funds for health care.

Three Huron County health care organizations will be winners this summer as Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb laces up the skates with current and former NHLers in a charity hockey game in Goderich.

The Hometown Heroes "Raise a Little Health" game aims to raise $50,000 for the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health in Seaforth.

Lobb says former Red Wing and Maple Leaf Boyd Devereaux from Seaforth is confirmed to play in the game as are Colorado star Ryan O'Reilly of Clinton and his brother Cal.

He says more information about NHL participants will be released in the coming weeks as their appearances are confirmed.

Several other MPs will play along with Goderich area celebrities.

Adult tickets to the game are $10 each and children's tickets are $5 -- they're available at the Goderich Y, the AMGH gift shop, the Gateway Centre in Seaforth and Lobb's offices in Goderich and Port Elgin.

The charity hockey game will take place on July 24th at MRC.

The doors open at 6 PM, with an opening ceremony at 6:45 PM and the opening face-off at 7 PM.
