Baycats Win Again

Midhurst | by Ken Hashizume

Castaldo's home run allows Barrie to win 4-3 and remain unbeaten

Not a lot of offense from the Baycats in their game against Kitchener.

But Barrie got enough on Saturday to remain unbeaten in the Intercounty Baseball season.

Jordan Castaldo's solo home run in the 6th inning broke a 3-3 tie and that was the difference as the Baycats edged the Panthers 4-3.

Barrie (4-0) took an early 3-0 in the first inning capped by a two-run double by Jeff Cowan.

Down 3-1 in the top of the 6th, Byron Bell cracked a two-run home run for Kitchener (0-6) to tie the game up at 3-3.

Bell went 3-for-4 at the plate while starter Shaun Hancock threw a complete game giving up all four runs on five hits.

Brad Bissell and 3 Baycat relievers combined for three runs on seven hits.

The Baycats head down to London Sunday afternoon to play the Majors.
