Big Win for IceDogs

Niagara, Barrie, Owen Sound, North Bay, Sarnia and Erie all win in the OHL.

There were six games in the Ontario Hockey League on Thursday night.

Here are the scores and a recap of the action.

    Owen Sound 2 Plymouth 1
    Erie 3 Windsor 2
    Sarnia 7 Kitchener 6 (SO)
    North Bay 3 Oshawa 0
    Barrie 5 Ottawa 3
    Niagara 5 Mississauga 4 (SO)



Attack 2 Whalers 1

Overage Kyle Hope scored twice in the third period for the Attack including the game winner on a power play with less than 6 minutes to play.

Attack goaltender Brandon Hope stopped 25 shots for his 28th win of the season.

Owen Sound moves to within 1 point of Saginaw for 6th in the Western Conference

The Attack have 2 games to play while Saginaw has 3 games remaining

Matt Mistele was the lone scorer for Plymouth.

With the loss, Plymouth will finish 8th in the Western Conference & most likely face Guelph in the opening round of the playoffs.

Tonight, the Attack are at London to face the Knights

Otters 3 Spitfires 2

Captain Connor Brown scored twice for the Otters who have won 6 straight games.

Andre Burakovsky scored the other goal for Erie who moved to 102 points, 3 back of Guelph for first overall

Both the Otters & the Storm have 2 games remaining.

Ryan Foss and Josh Ho-Sang scored for the Spitfires who have lost 5 in a row.




Sting 7 Rangers 6 in a shootout

Nickolas Latta scored the shootout winner for the Sting while underage Nikita Korostelev had two goals and 4 points for Sarnia.

Nikolay Goldobin scored twice while Matteo Ciccarelli and Kevin Spinozzi also scored in the victory as Sarnia snapped a 6 game losing streak.

Rookie Nick Magya had two goals for the Rangers who have lost 10 in a row.

Brent Pedersen, Mason Khon, Darby Llewellyn and Dominik Kubalik also scored for Kitchener.





IceDogs 5 Steelheads 4 in a shootout

IceDogs defender Luke Mercer scored once in regulation & then netted the shootout winner
    
Overage Eric Ming scored 3 goals while Blake Sienbenaler added two assists for Niagara who grabbed sole possession of 7th place in the Eastern Conference.

The IceDogs trailed 3-0 after 2 periods of play before they rallied for the victory.

Sam Babintsev scored a hat trick for the Steelheads while captain Brett Foy added a single.

The shootout loss garnered a point for Mississauga who hold the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by 1 point over Ottawa & 2 points on Belleville



Battalion 3 Generals 0

Overage captain Barclay Goodrow scored twice for the Battalion.

Zach Bratina also scored for North Bay who have  won 4 in a row.

Netminder Jake Smith picked up the shutout with  20 saves.

Smith has 4 shutouts on the season for North Bay who leads the Central Division by 3 points over Sudbury.

The Battalion have 2 games to play while Sudbury has 3 games remaining.





Colts 5 67's 3

Andreas Athanasiou and Mitchell Theoret each had a goal and an assist for the Colts.

Former Attack defender Jake Dotchin, Aaron Ekblad and Brendan Lemieux with an empty-net goal also scored for Barrie who have won 3 in a row

Defenceman Nevin Guy scored twice for Ottawa while former Colt Brendan Bell had a goal and an assist for the 67's
