Colts Rally To Beat Wolves

Mangiapane scores twice as Barrie sweeps home and home weekend series.

A sweep for the Barrie Colts this weekend.

Aaron Ekblad scored with 1:36 left in the third period to break a 3-3 tie and give the Colts a 5-3 victory over the Sudbury Wolves in OHL action on Sunday -- taking both games of the home-and-home weekend series.

Andrew Mangiapane scored two more goals for the Colts giving him 23 on the season to lead all OHL rookies.

The win moves Barrie to within five points of the Wolves for first place in the Central division.

The Colts are back home on Tuesday to play the North Bay Battalion at the Barrie Molson Centre.

There were six other games in the OHL on Sunday -- including an upset as Saginaw stunned Guelph 6-3

Spirit 6 Storm 3

Jake Paterson made 39 saves for the Spirit who snapped the Storm's 7-game win streak

Dylan Sadowy and Eric Locke each scored twice for Saginaw who solidified their hold on 6th place in the Western Conference, moving 4 points up on the Owen Sound Attack

Jeremiah Addison & Nick Moutrey also scored in the victory

Scott Kosmachuk, Zack Mitchell and Steven Trojanovic scored for the Storm who lead the overall standings by 4 points over London

Tonight, Guelph will be in owen Sound to face the Attack at 7 pm at the JD McArthur Arena.




67's 4 Rangers 2

 Brendan Bell scored twice for the 67's who bounced back from a lopsided loss at Sarnia the night before

Philippe Trudeau stopped 39 shots as Ottawa moved into a tie with Niagara for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference

Connor Brown and Brett Gustavsen also scored in the victory

Darby Llewellyn and Frank Hora scored for Kitchener who are 5 points back of Plymouth for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The loss by the Rangers reduces Owen Sound's magic number to clinch a playoff spot to 3 & 1/2



Spitfires 6 Sting 2

Eric Diodati, Brady Vail, Josh Ho-Sang and Sam Povorozniouk all had a goal and an assist for the Spitfires.

Brody Milne and Ryan Moore also scored for Windsor

Nickolas Latta and Brandon Lindberg scored for the Sting who have lost 12 of 13.



Steelheads 2 IceDogs 0

Spencer Martin stopped 35 shots to post the shutout for the Steelheads

Rookie Sean Day and Josh Burnside scored for Mississauga




Bulls 3 Petes 2

Underage Adam Laishram scored the game winner for the Bulls who moved to within 3 points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Former Attack overage Cameron Brace and Jake Bricknell also scored for Belleville

Nelson Armstrong and Greg Betzold scored for Peterborough





Generals 7 Frontenacs 2

Scott Laughton scored 3 goals & added an assist for the Generals

Cole Cassels, Josh Sterk, Colin Suellentrop and Stephen Desrocher also scored for Oshawa who lead the eastern Conference.

Henri Ikonen and Roland McKeown scored for the Frontenacs.



There are two makeup games in the OHL on Monday. 

In Owen Sound, the Attack host Guelph at 7 PM at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre

Meanwhile, in Sudbury, the Wolves host the Erie Otters
