Colts Beat Wolves at Home

Mangiapane scores game-winner as Barrie inches closer to Sudbury in standings.

The Barrie Colts inch closer to both the Sudbury Wolves and clinching a playoff spot.

Andrew Mangiapane's goal late in the second period proved to be the winner as the Colts beat the Wolves 2-1 on Saturday night at the Barrie Molson Centre.

Aaron Ekblad also scored while Andreas Athanasiou collected 2 assists for the Colts (30-24-1-2).

Danny Desrochers got the only goal for the Wolves (30-18-3-6).

The victory puts Barrie six points behind Sudbury in the OHL Central Division standings, five back of North Bay.

The second game of this home-and-home series goes Sunday afternoon in Sudbury.
