Attack Face-Off with Storm

Owen Sound | by Fred Wallace

Attack looking to start 2014 off with a win over one of the OHL's best teams.

The Owen Sound Attack open 2014 when they host the Guelph Storm in Ontario Hockey league action.

The Storm, who have made some major acquisitions,  are a major contender for the Midwest Division, Western Conference and OHL titles.

Attack coach Greg Ireland is very aware of how gifted Guelph is, even though they will be missing Kerby Rychel & Garrett McFadden who are away competing in international events.

Rychel is a teammate of Attack defender Chris Bigras with Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden.

McFadden, a native of Kincardine, is playing for Ontario at the World Under 17 Challenge in Nova Scotia.

Ireland relates he's very pleased with the way his club has performed over the last two months.

He says there's been no change in strategy or systems, but rather the Attack players have committed to an uptempo pace with the puck and hard pursuit of the puck when they don't have it.

Game time is 2 PM on Wednesday at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre
