The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks played a huge WOAA game against the Elora Rocks and came out on top, 7-6.
The two points gives the Winterhawks a tie with Elora atop the standings in the North Division of the league.
Forward Bryan Kazarian scored what proved to be the winner with less than 10-minutes left in the game.
Kazarian says he didn't expect his goal to be the winner considering they were leading 6-2 going into the third period, but the Rocks kept fighting back after the Winterhawks got into penalty trouble.
Coach Peter Roedger says it was a huge relief when the final buzzer went.
He says the bottom line is they got the two points and learned from the game as well.
Roedger says Elora kept up with the pace of the Winterhawks and it shows his squad needs to play safe and play as tight as the team can.
Other goal scorers for the Winterhawks include Curtis Johnston and Blake Underwood with two each while singles went to Shawn Walker and Brent MacDermid.
The Winterhawks next game is next Friday night, December 21st, when they host the Shelburne Muskies.
Game time at the Plex is 8:30 PM.
