Brampton | by Bayshore News Staff

OHL to return to North Bay with move of Battalion from Brampton.

The Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League are on the verge of relocating to North Bay for next season.

North Bay Council has approved an agreement-in-principle to a 15-year lease with the team to play at Memorial Gardens in the city.

The deal includes a multi-million renovation and expansion to the Memorial Gardens.

The proposed shift needs to be approved by the OHL board of governors.

Battalion owner Scott Abbott who has operated the franchise since 1998, made the announcement official on the club's website

North Bay was the home to the Centennials from the early 80's to 2002 when that operation departed North Bay for Saginaw, Michigan and become the Spirit in 2002.
