Dresden | by Bayshore News Staff

Lawn Bowling Results from Schuknecht's play in Dresden tournament.

from Barb Schuknecht

On Tuesday Aug.28th, Chesley’s team of Steve, Christine and Barb Schuknecht took a road trip to Dresden to bowl in a Ladies/ Mixed Triples tournament bowling against seven other rinks of teams from Windsor, Ridgetown, Sarnia, Chatham and Dresden.  They won all three 12-end games under sunny skies with the odd cool breeze.

In game one, Schuknecht drew a Sarnia team Skipped by Bob Machan.  His Vice was his wife, Cecelia, and his Lead was Helen Carson.  Schuknecht mastered in a 12-7 victory.  Game two saw Dresden’s Fran Badder, Nancy Stewart and Muriel McKin lose in a 20-8 pounding.  Chatham’s Dennis Skipper, Tom McNaughton and Barb Bellmore were down 9-3 to Schuknecht  in the 8th end, when, with one down in the head, Steve had an unfortunate shot that caused him to give up a 5-ender.  Chesley fought hard to maintain this tiny lead to win 3 games and finish second with a 42 carry-over 2, behind 1st place – Brian Simm’s team - who had an even 43 and 3 wins.
