Knights Win OHL Crown

Austin Watson named Playoff MVP as Knights beat Niagara 2-1 to win OHL Title.

The London Knights have won their second OHL Championship.

The Knights held on for a 2-1 victory over the Niagara Ice Dogs on Friday night to win the 2012 OHL Title in five games.

Austin Watson opened the scoring for London and was named the Playoff MVP.

Seth Griffith also scored for the Knights, who hoisted the J. Ross Robertson Cup infront of nine thousand fans on their home ice at the John Labatt Centre.

Tom Kuhnhackl replied for Niagara.

Michael Houser made 26 saves for London, while Mark Visentin stopped 20 shots for Niagara.

The Knights won the league championship by winning four straight games after dropping the series opener in double overtime.

The Knights will join the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Saint John Sea Dogs and host Shawinigan Cataractes in the Memorial Cup.

The winner of the Western Hockey League final between the Edmonton Oil Kings and the Portland Winterhawks will claim the other berth.
