Kentucky Wins NCAA Finals

Regional | by Bayshore News Staff

Finals MVP and Player of the Year Anthony Davis only had six points

Kentucky had a big first half then withstood a furious comeback by Kansas to win the N-C-Double-A men's basketball championship.

Doron Lamb scored 22 points to lead Kentucky to a 67-59 win.

Finals MVP and Player of the Year Anthony Davis only had six points but finished with 16 rebounds and tied the championship-game record with six blocks.

Davis is only the second freshmen to be selected national player of the year.

Kentucky's win sparked celebrations on the Wildcats campus with several dozen people arrested only minutes after the game ended.

While fans partied in the streets, couches were set on fire and a car crashed into a patio area where people were dining.

Police also handed out numerous citations, many for alcohol-related offences.
