A young baseball prospect from Goderich may be on the fast-track to realizing his dream in the professional ranks.
16 year-old pitcher Brock Dykxhoorn has been selected to practice with the Canadian National Team in Florida.
Brock will spend 10 days with the ballclub which includes games against Major League Baseball extended spring training squads.
Those teams include young players who have signed contracts with the Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers.
There is the potential for Brock to advance to appearances with the Canadian National Team in the Dominican Republic, Italy, and the World Junior Baseball Championship in Seoul, South Korea.
Brock -- who boasts a 90 mile-per-hour fastball -- is also preparing to attend the baseball program at Central Arizona University.
