The Collingwood McQueen Vue Paving Atom A Blackhawks won the International Silver Stick North American Championship. At the finals in Sarnia on the weekend, they played teams from Pennsylvania, Indiana, Brampton, and Colorado. The Collingwood team was awarded the Bob Sinclair Memorial Award for "Atom team displaying the honourable qualities of good discipline, attitude, ability and conduct, as well as all-round good sportsmanship throughout the North American Silver Stick." Emmett Sproule was presented with the Tom Norris Memorial Award, which goes to "the most outstanding Atom player at the North American Silver Stick Finals." Sproule was also named, along with Myles Baker, to the tournament All Star team.

A busy night in the NHL tonight, with 13 games: including the Toronto Maple Leafs with the 2nd of a home and home series against the Islanders, this time in New York. Winnipeg take on the New York Rangers, San Jose is at Calgary, and Ottawa in Phoenix. Plus, the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers will both be looking to enter the all-star break on a positive note. The Canucks are home to Edmonton in the final game for both teams before the week-long break.

The Toronto Blue Jays have locked up pitcher Brandon Morrow for the next 3 years. The Jays signed the 27-year-old to a 3-year contract worth $20 million -- including a $10 million club option for the 2015 season. Morrow set career highs last season in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts.

Canada's women's soccer team head into the semifinals of the Olympic qualifying tournament on a high note. The Canadians beat Costa Rica 5-1 last night in Vancouver to finish atop their group. The semifinal winners earn a berth in the 2012 Summer Olympics.
