Ontario-Scotties Tournament of Hearts

Provincial Women's Curling Championship

at the Kenora Curling Club

The first draw is tonight at 7 pm

Among the 5 matches in the first draw, Sherry Middaugh from the Coldwater Curling Club meets the Laura Pickering rink of North Bay

The North Bay entry includes Alison McLeod of Tara.

Play runs through the week, leading to the Championship game on Sunday.

Superspiel 30 in Port Elgin was won by the Peter Mellor rink from Kitchener-Waterloo

Mellor defeated Wayne Tuck 7-5 to win the $ 5,000 final.

Superspiel 31 at the Port Elgin Curling Club will be staged in November of 2012.



Nastasiuk Attack Player of the Week

The Owen Sound Attack named rookie forward Zach Nastasiuk as the Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week.

Nastasiuk, the Attackā€™s 1st Round Pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection has a goal & 4 points in 3 games last week against the top teams in the Western Conference; Plymouth & London

Nastasiuk now has 7 goals and 4 assists on the season.

Friday, the Attack are at Kitchener to face the Rangers

The Midwestern All Stars face the Golden Horseshoe All Stars

Jordan Cale of the Owen Sound Greys is on the Midwestern entry

The Greys will host Brantford on Friday night at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore

Owen Sound starts the week, just 2 points back of Kitchener for the final playoff spot in the Midwestern Conference.

Yurkiw Remains In Switzerland

Owen Sound skier Larisa Yurkiw will ski this week in a World Cup event at St Maritz in Switzerland

Yesterday at St Moritz, Yurkiw was 19th in a Europa Cup downhill.

Following her World Cup appearance this week, Yurkiw is expected to return to Canada briefly before returning to international competition outside of North America.
