Habs @ Collingwood

The NHL season begins this week and the Montreal Canadiens are doing their final preparations at Collingwood

The Canadiens are training at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena in Collingwood today, tomorrow and Wednesday.

The practices are closed to the public,

The Habs face the Leafs Thursday in Toronto


Maidens Wins Award

The Becker Shoes-Owen Sound Attack Player of the Week is Jarrod Maidens.

Maidens scored 4 times last week as the Attack went 1 & 2.

Ironically, Maidens did not score in the victory at Barrie, but scored twice in both losses.

This weekend, the Attack are at Erie for their annual doubleheader against the Otters and then come home Thanksgiving Monday afternoon to face Saginaw

Pronghorns Win Great Lakes Challenge

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns won the 2011 Great Lakes Challenge, a CIS women's hockey tournament in Kincardine.

The Pronghorns were 3 & 0 in the 3-day event, clinching the points title with an exciting 2-1 win over the University of Regina Cougars Sunday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Crystal Patterson made some huge saves in the dying seconds to preserve the win & was named player of the game

Guelph beat York 2-1 in the other game.

Logan Hong was the fastest in the female division while Greg Nichol turned in the best time for the men.

In the 5K division, Christine Leeder had the fastest time for the ladies while the fastest time for the men was turned in by Andy Harrington.
