You won’t have to travel far to see N-H-L players this week. The Montreal Canadiens are in Collingwood this week to complete their training camp with three days of ice time at the arena before opening their regular season this Thursday in Toronto. Skating practices will be closed to the public.
Two teams remain undefeated four weeks into the N-F-L season, and both reside in the same division. The Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers romped Denver 49-23. And, the Detroit Lions rallied from a 20-point deficit with a 34-30 overtime victory at Dallas. Buffalo’s undefeated streak came to an end in Cincinnati losing 23-20 to the Bengals.
The Tigers squared up their American League playoff series with the Yankees with a 5-3 victory at New York. The best-of-five series resumes tonight in Detroit. And, Tampa Bay is home to Texas, with that series also tied at a game apiece.
The St. Louis Cardinals evened up their National League playoff series with Philadelphia at a game apiece as the Cards beat the Phillies 5-4. Milwaukee is up 2-nothing in its best-of-five series with Arizona after a 9-4 victory.
Sebastien Levesque rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown as the top-ranked Laval thumped Concordia 37-4 in Canadian university football. In the only other game, No. 3 Calgary hammered Alberta 61-7.
