Multisport Race Today

Bruce Peninsula | by Fred Wallace

The first Bruce Peninsula Multisport race is being held today.

The first Bruce Peninsula Multisport race is Saturday.

The 100 kilometre event features elements of running and trekking along with kayaking and cycling.

The long course runs from Cabot Head to Wiarton with the long course participants scheduled to start at 6:30 AM.

There is also a short course event that commences Saturday at 8:30 AM plus a Kids event at Bluewater park in Wiarton at 1 PM.

Race organizer and Multisport athlete Jack van Dorp is enthused about the event based on the number of competitors participating, which will bypass 100, and also based on the cooperation the event has received from municipalities and land owners.

van Dorp believes there are some significant challenges for the competitors, in particular with some of the running & trekking segments.

Overall, van Dorp wants to see how well the Multisport race goes this weekend, before establishing a target number for future growth of the event.
