The Flesherton Auto Parts Plus Knights recorded a 13-6 decision in Dundalk Wednesday night against the Backline Bears. Chris Belford had a big night at the plate for the Knights with two triples two doubles and three runs scored out of the lead-off spot in the line-up. Duane Bryan also scored three times and Mike Wilson delivered a big two run triple in a four run second inning outburst that ran the score to 7-1 and proved too much for the Bears to recover from. The Bears offense received two rbi from John Byers and a run scoring triple from Nick Dallabetta. Joey Loveday-Wight also chipped in a rbi double. Riley Pearson picked up the win recording three strikeouts and three walks on his line. Chris Goudy fired three scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts and a walk. Ryan Welch took the loss with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks over five innings of work. Byers finished up with a single strikeout and walk in the final two innings. The Knights improved to 3-1 on the season while the loss evened the Bears at 3-3.
On Tuesday night, the Schelburne Schooners rode a three run homerun from Matt Giles and a solo shot off the bat of Bryan Cantwell to a 16-6 win over the Singhampton Royals at Highland Park in Shelburne. Steve Townson went the route recording four strikeouts as the two time defending champion Schooners improved to a season record of 2-3. Rick Jamieson took the loss and pounded his fourth homerun of the season for the Royals as they dropped to 1-5.
Upcoming action will see Dundalk in Hopeville Friday night against the Hurricanes at 8:30 while next Friday and Saturday eight games are scheduled in Flesherton as part of the third annual fun weekend with all league teams slated to play twice as part of the festivities starting Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
