Alzheimer Society Golf Tournament Early Bird Deadline near
The Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce will hold its fifth annual Fore! The Memories fundraising golf tournament, sponsored by Investors Group, on Friday June 10, 2011 at the Owen Sound Golf and Country Club.
Spaces are filling up quickly for the tournament, said Bill Twaddle, community Development Co-ordinator for the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce.
“We want to remind everyone that the Early Bird deadline is Friday May 13,” he said. “All golfers registered and paid by that date will be entered in a draw for an Early Bird Prize.
Deborah Barker, Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce, said the local chapter is proud to be celebrating two important milestones this year.
“Not only is it the fifth anniversary of our very successful and popular golf tournament,” she said. “It is also the 25th anniversary of the local chapter.
“We are proud of our record of service for the past 25 years, and of the growth that has allowed us to provide information, education, support and counseling services to an ever-increasing number of individuals and families.”
Barker said the society’s tournament has an enviable record of success, raising $66,000 in the first four years, and an enviable reputation for providing an excellent experience for our golfers.
“To recognize our two significant anniversaries we plan to make this year’s event our most successful ever. To ensure this we are inviting everyone who has ever played in our tournament or who has supported us as a sponsor or prize donor, to be involved again this year.
Registration is now open for individuals and foursomes to participate in the 18-hole, scramble format tournament. The day includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, dinner and prizes. Cost is $135 per golfer, the same as the past two years.
For the third consecutive year the corporate sponsor is Investors Group. There are also various hole sponsorship and prize donation opportunities available.
There will also be hole-in-one prizes on every Par 3, including the chance to win a new car courtesy of Hal Wright Chevrolet Cadillac on Hole 17. As well there will be a number of specialty hole contests.

This Alzheimer Society golf tournament is an important awareness and fundraising event for the local chapter, Barker said. “Money raised will help us continue to provide information, education, support and counselling services to persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, and to their families and caregivers.”
“Registration is limited and you are encouraged to sign up early. This is a popular event and we anticipate a sell-out.”
