Hawks Head to Listowel

Listowel | by John Divinski

Saugeen Shores Winterhawks take on Monkton Wildcats after winning series opener.

The Saugeen Shores Winterhawks will try for a 2-0 lead in their best of seven league championship series against the Monkton Wildcats.

After winning the first game 5-3 on Friday night -- the Hawks will travel to Listowel, where Monkton will play their home games in this final series.

Winterhawks coach Don Matheson, says the Listowel Arena is a smaller barn and they have to be ready.

He says the Wildcats scored two of their three goals last night on power plays and his squad will have to stay out of the penalty box.

Matheson says this series is going to be a physical one with the size of the Wildcats but the Hawks are ready for anything.

After tonight's game, the next game in the series will be next Friday, April 15th at the Plex.

Game time is 8:30 PM.
