Regional | by Jon Meyer

Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre and Grey Roots offer free access to Archives.

It's 'Archive Awareness Week' in Ontario.

The Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton is celebrating the week with a number of activities -- including free admission to their Reading Room until Sunday.

It starts at 10 AM all week but starts at 1 PM on Saturday/

Grey Roots Museum and Archives near Owen Spound is offering free admission to their Reading Room as well.

Grey Roots Museum and Archives Spokesperson Karin Noble says researchers can view their archives for free all week long.

Today, there's a special lecture at 2:30 PM focusing on the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire.

Devoted to philanthropy and the British Empire, the IODE has been around for over a hundred years with the first branch established in Owen Sound.

Grey Roots has also unveiled their blockbuster exhibit this summer, "Mystery of the Mayan Medallion."

The exhibit takes you through ruins of the once magnificent city where an archaeological team has disappeared from a dig site while investigating the Jade Medallion.

It opens this Saturday and runs until September 25th.
