Attack Defeat Knights 1-0 to Advance to Conference Semi-Finals
Prior to this season Robby Mignardi had never advanced to the second round of the OHL Playoffs, but his goal with 1:41 left in the third period sealed not only his first second round birth in five OHL seasons, it also sealed the first second round berth for the Owen Sound Attack since 2005/2006.
“I had the puck on my stick and took a quick look to try and find some open space.”, Mignardi said. “Luckily there was some space high glove and it found the back of the net.” The overage forward notched four goals in the opening round series, including two on Saturday in a 6-0 win en route to being named the games first star.
The Attack’s victory means they will be scoreboard watching on Monday and Tuesday. If the Plymouth Whalers defeat the Kitchener Rangers in game seven this evening, the Attack will face Plymouth in the Conference Semi-Finals. If Kitchener defeats Plymouth, the Attack will play the winner of the Windsor/Erie series who play game seven Tuesday evening in Windsor. It is unknown at this time when the next series will start; although it is likely game one will go Thursday or Friday in Owen Sound.
The Attack has also introduced a new policy for fans looking to have their seats reserved for the remainder of the playoffs. Fans that purchase a season ticket for the 2011/2012 season in full will now have the opportunity to have their seats held for them until 1:00pm the day before the game as current season ticket holders do. 2011/2012 season ticket subscribers will also be given the opportunity to fill out the pre-authorized ticket sheet where their seats will be automatically purchased for them prior to each game. Fans wanting more information are encouraged to contact the Attack Box Office.
Tickets for games one and two of the Western Conference Semi-Finals are now on sale at the Attack Box Office in the main lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. Tickets can also be purchased by calling the Box Office at (519) 371-7452.
