Funding for Legions

South Huron | by Peter Jackson

Federal government announces 17 thousand dollars for the Legion in Exeter.

Exeter and South Huron will remember and honour its past with the help of the federal government.

The announcement of 17-thousand dollars for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 167 in Exeter was the last made by Huron-Bruce Conservative MP Ben Lobb before this weekend's federal election call.

The funding will help the Legion create a Legacy Garden containing a commemorative metal sculpture.

The War Memorial in Exeter's Town Hall courtyard will also be given a face-lift.

The work is to be completed in time for South Huron to celebrate the Town Hall's 125th anniversary next year.

The funding comes through Ottawa's Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage initiative.
