Grey Bruce | by Jon Meyer

Woodlot owners can learn about woodlot management at this weekend's conference.

It's that time of year again where woodlot owners meet to learn various aspects of woodlot management.

The 18th Annual Woodlot Conference takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Elmwood Community Centre.

Jim Penner of the Saugeen Conservation Authority says this year's theme is "Expanding the Forest Landscape."

Penner says Saturday includes seminars on creating and managing plantations.

Also on the agenda is seminars on creating wetlands, native pollinators and the biology and ecology of coyotes.

Penner says a few woodlot owners asked that they focus on coyotes this year.

He says they will be focusing on what coyotes feed on, and their travel patterns.

About 150 people from throughout Grey and Bruce, and some from even further South are expected at the conference.

The conference starts at 9 AM Saturday and goes until 3:30 PM and you can attend without pre-registering

Then on Sunday starting at 1 PM, the group will tour local forests and woodlots.
