Rural land severances remain an issue at the Huron County table.
An ongoing rural severance was tabled again at County Committee of the Whole recently.
Director of Planning and Development Scott Tousaw says as registered planners, they have to follow the provincial planning policy and any severances that go against it will be recommended for denial.
He says council has directed the department to come back with a report on possible options for the county to consider granting severances to rural land.
Tousaw says there are a lot of different opinions from councillors on whether or not severances should be allowed, and the planning department has provided council with the advantages and disadvantages.
He says it could re-establish communities in areas of lost population and raise the assessment of the rural parts of the county.
But, on the flip side it could draw people away from the settlement areas and that could have an effect on assessment in those areas.
