Salive Stays Stateside

Popular Track Announcer Not Returning For 2011

Ontario loses Frank Salive

Due to an increase in racing at Isle at Pompano Park Racetrack in Florida, the voice of Canadian Harness Racing has announced he won't be returning to Ontario this summer.

Frank Salive was the voice of racing, as Hanover, Clinton and Woodstock Racetracks last summer, and also helped fill in as a guest announcer at Grand River, and Woodbine as well as other tracks as needed.

Hanover GM Gord Dougan says its a sad loss for our fans who will not be able to hear the Velvet Fog during our Saturday night Live race cards.

As for a replacement, Dougan says he's not sure what Hanover and Clinton are going to do, but we are looking for a replacement this summer.

Pompano normally ended its season in May to allow Salive to return to Ontario for the Summer race season, after years as Announcer at Woodbine and Mohawk.

Pompano has extended its race season until Mid-July, and has helped Salive get his U.S. Work papers so he can stay year round.

Hanover starts its 2011 live race season on Saturday May 7th.   Post time is 7:15pm...
