Lightning Fall Short At Provincials
The Saugeen Maitland Midget Lightning AA's came up short at this weekend's OWHA Provincial Championships.
In the opening game of the tournament, the Lighting outshot Kingston 27-10 but needed Kelly Garrow to fire a power play goal late in the game to salvage a 1-1 tie.
In game 2 versus the powerhouse Thunder Bay Queens the Bolts fell 3-1 to last year's Midget Canadian Champs.
Going into the final round robin game versus league rival Waterloo Ravens, the Bolts needed a win to secure a trip to the playoff round. Unfortunately, Saugeen fell short 2-1 and were eliminated from the Provincials.
Thunder Bay would eventually lose in the gold medal game to the Toronto Areos, a team the Lightning had managed to beat in overtime in a previous tournament.
Scoring in weekend play was Kelly Garrow, Dollee Meigs and Laura Irwin while assist went to Meigs, Garrow, Abbey Gibson, Hannah Davidson and Laken Smith.
The Lighting with resume the Lower League playoffs next weekend with a 2nd round series against rival Waterloo.
TCDMHA Sierra Aggregates Midget Rebels lost to Shallow Lake at Chatsworth on Monday night 4-2 in an evenly matched game. Jordan Proctor scored 2 goals for Shallow Lake. Jack Cunningham and Jed Nuttall netted singles. Skylar Vaughn and Braden Gateman were the goal scorers for the TCDMHA Sierra Aggregates Midget Rebels. The Rebels play Saugeen Shores #1 at Southampton Friday night in the round robin home and away series.
On Sunday February 20th the Owen Sound Grey Bruce Water Company Bantam Girls tied Kincardine HL 2-2. Scoring for Owen Sound was Katie Langdon and Kyra-Lane Bolton. Kincardine’s goals from Rachael Whitney and Tegan Moore

The TCDMHA Ed McNabb Roofing Novice LL#1 Rebels played host to the
Bruce Peninsula Wild in their first playoff game of the 2010/2011 season.
The Rebels defeated the Wild 11-0.
Scoring for the Rebels were Chris Hardman with 3 goals and 1 assist, Jack Murray with 2 goals and 2 assists, Austin King with 2 goals and an assist, Dalan Frook with 1 goal and 1 assist, Kerry Lynn Weppler with a goal, Pearce Lacey with a goal and Nick Garrett with a goal.
Landon Heathers had two assists while Lindsay Elliot and Hunter Courtney added an assist.
The Ed McNabb Roofing Rebels next face the Shallow Lake Lakers in playoff action on February 22nd 2011 at 7 PM in Desboro.
