Ignite The Ice Novice Ringette

City Novice Bring Home Gold
The Owen Sound Extreme Bayshore Skate Sharpening Novice brought home gold from Newmarket's "Ignite the Ice" Ringette Tournament this weekend.
Owen Sound played Valley East and Richmond Hill, but did not allow a goal in either game, earning goaltender Emily Lennox two shut-outs.  The team then played Newmarket, winning with a final score of 15-3.  Great stick checking from Andrea Phillips, Bailey Zulkosky and Kariya Beach were some of the highlights of round robin play.  In addition, Megan Campbell scored a crowd pleasing "one timer" goal to earn her first tournament goal, and Ryleigh Elliott showed her small but mighty attitude as she didn't give up on the ring through any battle.  Alyssa Bobet's long passes against the boards put the ring in the hands of her team mates helping to keep the play out of our end.  And Mae MacNeil demonstrated great team work with not only earning six goals this tournament, but also leading the team with 12 assists.
Heading into the gold medal game, Owen Sound met Newmarket again and worked together to earn the gold medal with a score of 9-2.   During this final match, McKenna Moran scored two goals and assisted with three more, while Morgan Kirk and Brynna Kirkwood each scored a hat-trick, and Ryleigh Elliott added a single.
