Jesus Medina, Valentin Castellanos and Maxi Moralez scored in the victory

New York will play a Quarterfinal match on Saturday night

Patrick Mullins scored for TFC who were eliminated from the tournament.

 


Sporting Kansas City defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in penalty kicks

Gianluca Busio scored the deciding marker

Sporting KC advances to the Quarterfinals and will play Philadelphia on Thursday

Michael Thompson birdied 2 of the last 3 holes for a 4-under 67 and a 2-stroke victory

Michael Thompson finished at 19 under to win the event by 2 strokes over Adam Long.

Michael Gligic from Burlington was the low Canadian.

He tied for 26th, 8 strokes back of Thompson

The World Golf Championships, the FedEx St. Jude Invitational begins Thursday in Memphis

Shack Passes

Former NHL'er Eddie Shack passed away on the weekend.

Known as " Eddie the Entertainer ", Shack played more than 1,000 NHL games, scored 239 goals and won 4 Stanley Cups with Toronto.

A native of Sudbury, Shack played parts of 17 seasons with 6 different teams, including 9 years combined with the Maple Leafs.

 

Hawerchuk Continues Fight

Hockey Hall of Famer Dale Hawerchuk is battling a recurrence of his cancer

Hawerchuk completed chemotherapy treatments in April after taking a leave of absence from the Barrie Colts, as the Head Coach of the Ontario Hockey League club last September.

In the NHL, Hawerchuk scored 518 goals.

As coach of the Colts, he led Barrie to the playoffs in 6 of the 9 years he coached the club

 

Chayka Resigns/Quits

John Chayka has terminated his contract as General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League

Chayka cites ownership as the reason for his leaving the club prior to the NHL’s Return to Play.

Under Chayka, the Coyotes missed the playoffs 3 years in a row before making it to this season’s NHL playoff qualifying round.

Steve Sullivan has been promoted to interim general manager
