Driver Allegedly Passes OPP Cruiser In Stolen Car, Crashes & Runs

OPP charge a man who allegedly sped past police on HWY 10, crashed & ditched a stolen car.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged a young man after he allegedly passed a cruiser in a stolen car on Highway 10, crashed it and ran off.  

Police say about at 12:40 Thursday morning (March 26th) an officer observed a red car driving at a high speed on Highway 10, south of Grey Road 40 in Chatsworth.

They say the car passed the OPP cruiser and was located a short time later involved in a collision with a ditch on concession Road 2.

Police say the airbags had deployed but the occupants had left the collision scene.

OPP located the driver on foot near an area residence arrested him.

According to police, two other involved males, passengers in the vehicle, were located walking on a nearby rail trail.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the 19 year old driver from Haldimand County with a number of offences related to driving while impaired by alcohol, dangerous driving, and possession property obtained by crime.

The accused was released with a court date in Owen Sound on May 28, 2020.
