Shelburne Mayor Requests Temporary Change to Waste Pick-Up

Shelburne | by Phil DeLand

Mayor Wade Mills says he's asked the County of Dufferin for more frequent garbage pick-up.

With people staying home to self-isolate, there could be more garbage and recycling than a typical week.

Shelburne Mayor Wade Mills posted to his Facebook page saying he's asked the County of Dufferin for some assistance.

Mills says he asked what can be done to allow for increased pick-up on interim basis.

He says he'll be following up with the County to try and get an answer.

Mills says he's received a number of questions about the waste pick-up since the provincial government shut down non-essential businesses earlier this week.

Despite the list of essential businesses being so long, Mills say he's seen a marked decrease in the amount of traffic and activity through town.

He's asking residents to remain diligent in social distancing efforts.
