Working Group in Shelburne Meets to Assist Local Business

Shelburne | by Phil DeLand

The first meeting of a working group happened Wednesday to help figure out ways to assist local businesses through pandemic.

A new working group met for the first time today, aimed at helping businesses in Shelburne.

Mayor Wade Mills provided the update on the Local Business Working Group which held its first remote meeting.

Mills say a number of local businesses are being hit extremely hard by this global pandemic.

He says the working group includes representation from the BIA and the Economic Development Committee.

The group will be working to find creative ways of offering assistance to those businesses in need.

A Business Impact Survey is the first initiative that is available at www.haveyoursayshelburne.ca.

This survey is designed to gather information from the local business community that will allow the working group to better understanding the most pressing concerns.

It will also find out what services could be most helpful to the businesses.

Mills says the information gathered will guide the approach going forward including advocating for additional resources at the Provincial and Federal levels.

He says they will also establish a local Business Helpline to act as a quick resource for those businesses who may have questions.

More information on that helpline will be available once the line goes live.
