Premier Doug Ford has announced nearly $200 million to help strengthen roads, water and wastewater infrastructure in Ontario municipalities.
The announcement was made this morning in Parry Sound.
The Premier says it's up to the government to ensure local communities have the infrastructure needed to attract and retain jobs.
The money is flowing through the Ontario Community and Infrastructure Fund.
He says communities like Muskoka and Parry Sound attract significant tourism and need to be sure critical infrastructure isn’t going to let them down... (Above Audio)
The project will build healthier and safer communities in small rural and northern communities across the province.
Municipalities will also be able to use the funding to update their asset management plans to ensure they have the tools to target funding where it's needed most.
Locally, 26 municipalities will be receiving over 5.8 million in funding throughout Muskoka and Parry Sound.
