With almost three months left in their current fundraising campaign, the United Way Perth-Huron is at a near record-setting pace for donations.
As of earlier this week, the organization reported they had raised 77% of its $1.633 million goal.
That compares with 40 per-cent a month ago.
United Way Executive Director Ryan Erb is grateful for the generosity shown by donors in both Counties, and that it points to the holiday spirit of giving.
Ryan tells Country 104.9 News that Goderich and area residents have been especially generous.
As an example he points to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation campaign to fund a new CT scanner, and renovations to AMGH's community mental health facility.
The hospital foundation drive raised far more than its $3.5 million goal, over a period of just nine months in 2019.
Erb adds that generosity is a positive pattern in the Goderich area, mentioning response to fundraising for construction of the Maitland Rec Centre and replacing trees lost in the 2011 tornado as examples.
He says homelessness continues to be the main focus of the United Way campaign, with development of new strategies and opportunities to combat the issue.
