Assault, Break and Enter and Other Incidents Cause Busy Night for Owen Sound Police

These incidents continue a busy week for police who are still investigating a stabbing at a downtown Owen Sound restaurant.

Owen Sound Police saw a busy Tuesday, with several arrests made during various incidents. 

The hectic day began when a 43-year old Owen Sound man was charged with two counts of uttering threats. 

These threats were allegedly aimed at employees of a care facility.

The man will appear in court on January 30th 2020. 

Around 4.p.m Tuesday Police charged a 73-year-old man with impaired driving after the man drove a car into a pillar on 16th Ave East.

Shortly after 6.p.m, a collision occurred between a van and a pickup truck at 8th Street East and 9th Ave East.

The driver of the pickup was charged with careless driving.

At 8.p.m Tuesday night, police received a call about an intoxicated female who spat on someone along 2nd Ave East.

Police say this female then got into a fight with another woman.

When a bystander stepped in, the female allegedly struck him over the head with a full beer bottle. 

When officers arrived, the woman was seen walking into traffic and trying to open the doors of vehicles waiting in traffic.

Police say when they attempted to arrest her, she tried to scratch and bite the officers.

Owen Sound Police say she was apprehended with no serious injury and will appear in court on February 6th 2020.

The night continued when two males aged 49 and 40 were arrested after damaging a residence on 3rd Ave East when the male they were looking for was not home.

 The 49-year-old is being held in custody while police say the other man has been released.

Finally, around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police received reports of an attempted break and enter at an 8th Avenue West home.  

Police say they arrived to find footprints in the snow that led them to a nearby residence. 

Officers say when they arrived a 16-year-old youth fled on foot resulting in a chase. 

After being caught and arrested the teen was released into the care of a parent.

These incidents continue a busy week for police who are still investigating a stabbing at a downtown Owen Sound restaurant on Saturday morning.
