Collingwood | by Catherine Thompson

Police are still looking for tips from the public to do with the bank robbery hoax in Collingwood on December 30.

Police are still looking for tips from the public to do with the bank robbery hoax in Collingwood on December 30.

Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP Media Relations Officer Constable Martin Hachey tells us that there is no new information in the investigation and anyone with information can contact the detachment or Crime Stoppers.

Hachey says the number used by the person who called in the supposed robbery at the National Bank in downtown Collingwood as well as false bomb threats, was linked to a Toronto address.

There are reports that the number may have been a spoof.

Hachey explains that this is similar to people who pretend to be from the Canada Revenue Agency, your caller ID could show they are calling from the Barrie area but really they could be anywhere in the world.

The Constable adds that police still don't have a cost estimate associated with deploying so many resources to the downtown area when the calls came in.
