Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health have the latest numbers for this flu season.
Chuck Ferguson, WDGPH Communications Manager, says there have been 59 lab confirmed influenza cases.
He says that because of the change in reporting they can't reliably compare these results with last season.
Public Health Ontario has previously tested for the flu virus in patients from any clinical setting.
However, they're only testing, patients from hospitals or institutions including long term care homes.
He says because of that, a low number of confirmed cases doesn't reflect how widespread the flu might be in the community.
Ferguson says there have been three influenza outbreaks at long term care and retirement homes in Wellington, Dufferin or Guelph.
That's one more than the same point last year.
Residents in WDG have made 1186 visits to emergency rooms with flu-like illness which is up from the 1077 total visits made by this time last year.
