Automotive dealer Paul Sadlon Sr. has reportedly been charged with sexual assault.
According to a report in Barrie Today, he was arrested and charged by Barrie Police on December 4th.
Even though Barrie Police will not confirm the identity of the accused, in an email to Bayshore Broadcasting last night, Corporate Communications Coordinator Peter Leon said, "I can confirm that as a result of an investigation conducted by the Barrie Police Investigative Services that an 87 year old male has been charged criminally and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on February 3, 2020."
But he added, "In order to prevent any revictimization and in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, the Barrie Police will not be providing any additional comments regarding this matter."
The former Barrie Molson Centre was recently renamed Sadlon Arena, after city council approved a 10-year naming rights agreement with Paul Sadlon Motors worth over $1.7 million.
It is also included on the Sadlon Centre for Health, Wellness and Sciences at Georgian College's Barrie campus.
The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
