Public and Catholic schools will be closed for one day this week, across Huron and Perth counties.
Rotating strikes by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) will close all schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board on Wednesday, January 8th.
The strike action will not affect schools in the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board.
For weeks, the OSSTF has staged one-day walkouts, as talks continue with the province's Ministry of Education for a new contract.
Meantime, administrative work action by OSSTF members continues during school days, including a stoppage of EQAO preparation and testing, taking part in unpaid staff meetings outside school hours, and writing comments on report cards.
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) is also ramping up their work-to-rule campaign.
ETFO announced members would not plan any new field trips, or distribute letters or memos issued by schools or boards.
