New Year's Babies in Walkerton & Hanover

Couple is thrilled to have Grey Bruce's first baby of the new decade.

The Hanover and District Hospital welcomed the region's first baby of the year into world on January 1st.

After 12 hours of labour, Cassidy Reay and her partner Sheldon MacLachlan welcomed a gorgeous little 9 pound 2 ounce baby boy measuring 23 inches.

This is the first child for the couple who are thrilled to have Grey Bruce's first baby of the new decade.

Reay says she is overwhelmed with love for her child.

Both Reay and MacLachlan who were not aiming for a New Years Baby are pleased their little guy is able to take the title.

The couple expected to have a 2019 baby, as Reay was admitted to the Hanover Hospital on December 30th to be induced.

Things really began rolling along on New Years Eve and by 12:40 am on January 1st, little Axel Reign MacLachlan made his entrance into the world.

Having the New Years Baby has meant a lot more attention for the new parents, but they are taking it all in stride.

Reay adds she had an amazing experience and says the doctors, nurses and staff at the Hanover and District Hospital were wonderful.

In Walkerton the South Bruce Grey Health Center also welcomed a New Years Baby on January 1st

Little Miriam Wagler arrived at 4:41 am, becoming Bruce County's first baby of the decade.

Little Miriam, is the daughter of Mary and John Wagler.

As for the Owen Sound Regional Hospital, its first baby of 2020 had yet to arrive as of this morning.
