A daycare centre that was run by Dufferin County, will become privately run in the new year.
Dufferin County Council has voted to transition the Jean Hamlyn Daycare to become privately run at the end of June 2020.
The County will provide Human Resources support to staff impacted by the closure and will redirect the available budget allocations created by the closure to child care fee subsidy, special needs resourcing, and general operating grants/expansion plans.
Administrative support will be provided to families to help with the transition to alternative child care providers.
The Town of Orangeville is looking to lease the space to a new provider, and officials say five existing day cares have expressed interest.
