Long List Of Charges After Risky Flight From Police

Grey Bruce | by Claire McCormack

Theft, assaulting police, dangerous driving, break & enter charges laid after OPP pursuit.

A vehicle theft spree had a few OPP detachments on the tail of two suspects Thursday in a pursuit that involved a spike belt, cruisers getting hit, smashing through a garage door, and the canine unit.

Police say early Thursday morning (Dec 19) Huron OPP, Wellington OPP and Grey Bruce OPP were involved in multiple stolen vehicle occurrences, with the same suspects that began in the Goderich area with a stolen black truck.

Then they say a white van was stolen and driven to Southgate where OPP set out a spike belt rendering that vehicle useless.

But they say the driver and passenger fled on foot.

Then OPP say a white truck was stolen from a garage at Southgate Sideroad 15.

Police say the suspects drove the vehicle right through the garage door to exit the building, running into police cars on the scene and damaging those cruisers.

According to police, the two occupants ran off again, but were tracked down by officers and OPP K-9 units a short time later.
