South Bruce OPP say they are holding the man they arrested in Tara on Tuesday in custody.

Police say 27 year old Bradley Caskanette of Arran-Elderslie will be held until December 28th for a bail hearing.

OPP say they were called at 5:16 Tuesday morning to a 'high risk situation' on Yonge Street in Tara.

OPP Negotiators, the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, the Emergency Response Team and the OPP canine unit responded.

An OPP spokesperson said the suspect had barricaded himself in a house in Tara.

After several hours of persuasion by police, the suspect was removed and arrested without incident.

Police say this was an isolated incident and there was no threat to public safety.

It did not escape the public's notice however, throughout the course of the morning, roads through Tara and Invermay had been closed with drivers being rerouted around town, and as an extra precaution, the local elementary school put a 'hold and secure' in place and the local school bus route was cancelled.

The charges against the man are, Utter Threats to person and Utter Threats to property.

Police say the threats were directed towards law enforcement personnel.
